devonso — Power Platform customizations, made visible.

devonso is the first web application of its kind for the systematic analysis of customizations in existing Power Platform environments. We built it ourselves because we had the need in our own advisory practice — for support acceleration, project handover, and compliance analysis. Today it's our strategic differentiator, and from now on directly usable by customers too.

The problem devonso solves

Power Platform environments grow over years — and nobody knows what's all in them anymore.

Plug-ins, workflows, JavaScript web resources, business rules, Power Automate flows, custom permissions, audit settings — a productive Microsoft Dynamics 365 or Power Platform environment accumulates hundreds of such extensions over the years. Built by different partners, maintained by changing teams, documented in fragments — if at all.

We know the effect from every other advisory situation. With support requests, every other answer begins with hours of analysis: is that standard behavior or a customization? Which workflow overrides the field? Which plug-in is running in the background? With partner switches, discovery becomes a weeks-long task — the previous partner is no longer reachable, documentation exists in an old OneNote, the actual code lives spread across solutions, scripts, and configurations. With audits, it gets tight: anyone who has to prove to Microsoft, the data-protection officer, or the auditor what's set in the system has no chance to deliver it in acceptable time without a tool.

For exactly these three situations we built devonso. devonso scans a Power Platform environment systematically and makes the customization landscape visible — plug-in pipelines, workflows, JavaScript, business rules, permission structures, audit trails. What used to live in the heads of a few specialists becomes structured information.

Three disciplines where devonso stands out

What devonso concretely delivers — structured in three pillars.

01

Customization Analysis

devonso sees all customizations of a Power Platform environment systematically — plug-ins, workflows, JavaScript web resources, Power Automate flows, business rules, custom entities, custom fields. Structured in an overview, searchable, exportable.

02

Permissions & audit

Permission structures are evaluated: security roles, field-level security, hierarchical security, Team Member constellations. Audit-trail inspection shows which actions are audited by whom — and whether the audit settings still match your compliance requirements.

03

Configuration evaluation

Configuration drift is detected — settings that diverge between test and production, or deviate from target. Best-practice deviations are flagged: too-open permissions, missing audit settings, undocumented plug-in pipelines.

Two use cases we see every day

Where devonso makes the difference in daily work.

Support acceleration

A customer reports a bug — typically a field that doesn't react as it should. Before devonso: hours of analysis to determine whether it's standard behavior or a customization, which workflow or plug-in is involved. With devonso: one scan, one answer, instead of guesswork. What used to take hours to days now takes minutes.

Effect: first diagnosis faster, second diagnosis more reliable, effort per support ticket dramatically reduced.

Project handover

A customer switches to us — the previous partner is no longer available, but the system keeps running. Before devonso: weeks-long discovery, manual inspection of every solution, reverse-engineering from the code. With devonso: in one day we have the customization landscape structured in front of us — what otherwise takes weeks.

Effect: handover costs and risks drop significantly, the customer gets a reliable roadmap faster.

What devonso saves us — and you

Three dimensions where devonso measurably helps.

Time

Hours instead of days per support case. Days instead of weeks for discovery in project handovers. Minutes instead of hours for a compliance evaluation. devonso does in one scan what otherwise requires a series of manual investigations.

Risk

No more "going in blind" to unfamiliar systems. Anyone who knows a customization landscape in a structured way avoids side effects — workflows that override something, plug-ins running in unfamiliar logic, permission conflicts when rolling out new components.

Compliance stress

Permissions cleanly documented, audit settings at a glance, configuration state reproducible. That lets GDPR audits, NIS2 requirements, and internal compliance reviews be evidenced with significantly less effort.

Strategic advantage — what sets us apart

devonso is part of our Independent Engineering differentiator.

We built devonso ourselves because we had the need in our own advisory practice and because the existing tools on the market didn't deliver what we needed daily. From an internal tool, a differentiator has emerged that we now offer outside our advisory context as well.

Concretely, that means: arades service is structurally faster and more accurate because our advisors work with a tool they use daily and that knows where the audit gaps are. If you engage us for support, project handover, or compliance audit, you automatically benefit from that speed. If you want to use devonso on your own — that's also possible from now on, directly at devonso.com.

devonso is part of our second pillar — Independent Engineering. Just like the License Cost Calculator, it's a tool we built on a modern, often European platform, that runs on its own and that we make available to the world. Together — the calculator and devonso — they show how we translate our own engineering capability into advisory-relevant tools.

First of its kind

From our market research, no comparable tool exists.

There are individual Microsoft tools for partial aspects — Solution Checker, Power Platform admin center evaluations, individual community scripts — but no commercial tool that offers the systematic analysis of Power Platform customizations to the depth devonso delivers. With plug-in pipelines, workflows, JavaScript web resources, permission structures, and audit trails in one interface.

We believe the gap is not accidental: such tools only emerge where the need is experienced daily — and that was the case with us. We built it because we needed it ourselves. That it can now help others is a welcome side effect.
